The Authentic Entrepreneur Tips Scales With Their Expression
Authentic Entrepreneurs Have A Propensity For Making It Work
I like to say that “publish or perish” has been replaced by “post or perish” in today’s world of social media. It used to be that the only way to network with people in your industry was to go to conferences and be listed in their industry contacts list. Today this is still true, but the ‘industry’ conferences and lists have a world-wide reach. Everyone is the same distance from you since you can collaborate on a project online with someone in the office next door or on the other side of the world. The greatest challenge today can be coordinating time zones. But authentic entrepreneurs can figure this out and they, generally speaking, tend to have a propensity to know how to market themselves before the world.
Social Marketing Scales
The question to ask yourself in creating your online marketing plan then becomes, ‘How do I stand out, in a crowd of 1 billion, as an expert?’
If you have played on social sites, you know that directly telling people you’re the expert only turns them off. However, telling them indirectly always works. You will begin to tip the scales of attention and cause the weight of your industry (both experts and potential customers or clients) to lean in your favor as you add constant weights, updates that lead to earning “likes”, shares and followers online.
The Authentic Entrepreneur In Online Marketing Action
I have a client who is a fantastic painter. He said to me that he wants to make videos and, eventually, teach painting in online videos. He’s an example of an authentic entrepreneur who has a natural propensity to run his online marketing successfully. He is already an established painter represented by several galleries, but is working to create a greater name for himself. Because his art is authentic, the scales are already tipping in his direction so that he isn’t just “liked” via his social feedback, he’s loved. He gets great engagement, the Facebook social metric for people’s interaction with his art.
As he grows his online network and presence, he will establish himself as, not only being successful as an artist, but as an authority on teaching painting. As his Social Media Marketing Firm, we have quickly grown his presence in the form of followers, but we have never once told people what kind of expert he is or that they should learn from him. Had we, he wouldn’t have so many likes, comments and shares. Instead, we let his work speak for him, complimenting updates with fun facts, for example about his painting with both hands. We are beginning to post videos and have created his YouTube channel, where his consistent addition of videos will create a following of those interested in his art and him teaching it.
He is tipping the scales, creating a greater name for himself in a virtual industry contact list. He had a natural inclination to do what he loves and share it with others. In today’s era of passion, this spells success in online marketing, and online marketing means a world-wide audience.
The more you or your gallery taps into its authenticity and does what you love, which is hopefully the foundation of your offerings, the more your passion and insight into what you do becomes contagious. You gain a following and tip the scales such that with every new update, posting or blog, the impression you make upon your network becomes more impactful and leads to greater success.
